The last time we’ve heard from Willie  Nelson was when he left the stage on his concert because of unfavorable health condition. We understand that mixed reactions rose from the crowd and to the country fanatics after the incident. Some were disappointed for not witnessing the country legend perform. However, some sent random words of love and prayers in different ways.

During the canceled concert, the audience was able to watch performances from Old Crow Medicine Show, Sturgill Simpson, The Wild Feathers and Mitchell Lee before Willie bailed.

The most awaited concert!

The producers immediately announced a makeup concert after the cancellation of the show.  On June 20, the Red Headed Stranger conquered the Charlotte stage with his unique voice and stage charisma. Fans who still held the ticket for Willie’s canceled concert on May 26 were able to redeem their stubs for the whole show.

The crowd enjoyed bonus performances.  Additional performers joined Willie on stage.  All of a sudden, what’s supposed to be a simple makeup performance turned into a big show all unto itself. Some of the joining performers included The Avett Brothers from North Carolina, Jamey Johnson, and Sarah and Disarmers. These artists have been collaborating with Nelson on different shows.

The makeup concert turned into the biggest audience the Shook Show have ever played, so far. The PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte holds 19,500 seaters, and went fully packed!

On the other hand, Willie’s concerts and albums are contributing special significance to country music. He is one of the traditional artists who continue to preserve the roots of the genre. May those rising and aspiring country stars continue this legacy. May they preserve the true cowboy spirit in their songs.
