Customers favor leaders that are available to the public. A survey found that 82 percent of consumers trust a company more if its leadership engages in social media and 77 percent said leadership’s social media presence makes consumers more likely to purchase. It is clear that consumers want leaders to be online. But then, what about the “fishbowl” risk of social media?
There are ways that leaders can get resources like social media, but, and still come off as professional in image and in control.
Post Motivational Quotes and Memes – This tactic would get fans and followers pumped up. By posting a quote or a meme that has a universal appeal and represents leadership traits like determination, hard work, and courage. Make sure that the posts are attributed to the quotes to the correct people – a little fact finding task would do great – so that the posts are accurate. If there are any quotes that are found to be particularly inspiring, the posts themselves will resonate to the audience.
Recognizing Others – Great leaders quickly point out the way that others have helped them succeed. Using social media presence to name names by tagging or mentioning colleagues, customers and vendors that deserve attention. This boosts social media presence and keeps the focus on others.
Sharing Content of Others – If having some troubles on what to write about or on what to share on social media, it helps to look for status updates, tweets and pins of others in the industry or company and share what they have to say. The importance in following the right people on social media comes perfectly into play because they might help in finding good topics or content to share and finding the necessary content fairly quickly.
Have a Conversation – In expanding social media influence and presence does not happen on pages. By commenting on other’s posts and engaging on relevant online conversations, this will help draw new followers from those third-party pages. Avoid controversies or expressing opinions that reflects poor image towards your company. Stick with safe threads of conversations and commenting if any of them would take a turn for the worst.
