A Super Group in Country Music
When supergroups in country music are being talked about, oftentimes it’s the Highwaymen. However, next to them is the “Trio,” Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. Their 1987 Hit “Trio” is one of the crowning achievements in the country music industry. These three iconic voices, individually, already sound great, but putting them together makes another greater sound.
Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt, over the years, individually received a lot of recognition. Both Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame. And, Linda Ronstadt is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Dolly Parton received her first Hollywood Walk of fame almost two decades ago. And now, together with Harris and Ronstadt, they will be honored with their own Hollywood Walk of fame star.
The News
According to news, the Chamber of Commerce and the Walk of Fame Section Committee revealed their latest selections last June 25. In the recording category, the Committee selected a called “Trio” (Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt) and they will be a part of the 2019 Hollywood Walk of Fame Class.
The sweet Dolly Parton shared a video on her social media accounts thanking the committee for choosing her and her friends, Harris and Ronstadt.
Thank you Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce & #WOFCommittee, so honored to be returning to the #HollywoodWalkOfFame – this time as #TRIO w/ my best friends #LindaRonstadt & #EmmylouHarris. An Honor for Great Artists
This honor holds a special recognition for Linda Ronstadt who retired in 2011. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease the following year which rendered her unable to sing. Back in 1974, she was awarded Best Female artist by the ACM Awards and she also landed Top 5 Country Hits with “Blue Bayou,” When Will I Be Loved,” “I Never Will Marry,” and others. Both Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt were seminal to the expansion of the California country sound in the early and mid 70’s. During the 70’s is when the trio first began performing and collaborating together, occasionally appearing on each other’s albums. But due to scheduling conflicts, it would take another decade for a proper album to be recorded and released.
