The moment LeAnn Rimes entered her teenage years, that also marked her rise to fame as a singer. At the age of 13, she became the youngest country music star to have a record. Her debut single, a version of Bill Mack’s “Blue,” catapulted her singing career in 1996. Since then, and until now, Rimes continues to record songs and gain worldwide fame and success. You’ve probably seen her fantastically transform through the years. It’s also quite interesting to see her shine during her early years. We thought you’d love to see her sing a classic tune when she was 14. Hence, we bring you a preserved video of 14-year-old Rimes below. The innocence on her face was so evident in the same way as the maturity of her vocals. Right there and then, you could see a promising star in her. And, she went on to prove to the entire world how brightly she could shine. Watch her splendid performance of the all-time favorite song “Unchained Melody” that was made popular by The Righteous Brothers in 1965.

LeAnn Rimes’ Version

Other than The Righteous Brothers, the list of artists who have covered “Unchained Melody” is too many to mention. There are over 670 artists who recorded the tune and it’s been interpreted in various languages. Among the most notable ones were Joe StampleyElvis Presley, and Cyndi LauperStampley’s version hit No. 41 on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1975. Presley’s version entered the chart’s Top 10 peaking at No. 6 in 1978. On the other hand, Lauper earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Instrumental Composition Accompanying a Vocal for her rendition of the song in 2005.

In  1997, then rising country star LeAnn Rimes broke Presley’s chart record for this song. Her version of it landed at No. 3 on the country charts. As we’ve seen from the clip, there’s no denying she can bring a cover song to the charts’ Top 5. Rimes’ record of “Unchained Melody” was released as a single on her album Unchained Melody: The Early Years. The song showed consistency in its chart performance occupying the third spot in three different charts: Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, and the RPM Canada Country Tracks charts.
