John Prine is a master storyteller. His songs reflect the very fabric of human existence. And, he does it with simplicity and grace. Now, he is an inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Prine is a two-time Grammy Award winner. His talents have been recognized by songwriters and artists from across the musical spectrum. He is also a member of Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, a PEN New England Lyrics Award recipient, and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee. His 2018 album “The Tree of Forgiveness” is the first material that he has produced in 13 years. And, that project earned him three nominations in the 2019 Grammy Awards.

He has earned praises from people like Johnny Cash, George Strait, Norah Jones, among many others. His many brilliant songs include “Sam Stone,” “Summer’s End,” “Angel from Montgomery,” and “That’s the Way the World Goes ‘Round.” Listen to one below!

The Songwriters Hall of Fame announced their inductees via their website last Saturday, the 12th of January.

The Hall of Fame

Tom. T. Hall, another country icon, is also an inductee. The 82-year-old is a master narrator himself with his classics that include “Ballad of Forty Dollars,” “I Love,” and “The Year That Clayton Delaney Died.” He is also a songwriter for other artists. He has penned Jeannie C. Riley’s famed “Harper Valley PTA,” and Alan Jackson’s songs “Little Bitty” and “That’s How I Got to Memphis.”

Songwriters Hall of Fame Chairman Nile Rogers sang high praises at the diversity of the 2019 inductees and the large impact they have had across the facets of music throughout the decades in a statement that was released last Saturday, the 12th of January.

“The 2019 slate of inductees represents diversity and unity across genres and gender, highlighting our dedicated mission to honor music creators who have enriched our lives. These are writers who in their time literally transformed music and helped make what’s happening today possible.”

The 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, on the 13th of June, Thursday.
