Keith Urban paid tribute to all of the wonderfully brilliant artists that we lost in 2018 in the Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve.
The Jack Daniel’s event is a multi-genre concert that took place in Bicentennial Capital Mall State Park. It is in Nashville, Tennessee. Country star Keith Urban headlined the event. This is his third consecutive year to help Nashville welcome in the New Year.
Several other artists are also present, such as Judah & the Lion, Brett Young, Peter Frampton, among others. Carson Daly and Chrissy Teigen hosted the special NBC broadcast.
Urban had a special introduction before he brought the house down with his performance:
“For the last few years I’ve been playing New Year’s Eve, I’ve taken the opportunity to put together a medley of some of the people we’ve lost across the year, and I’ve done it again this year.”

The Medley Performances
His medley of songs comprises of the Appalachinan traditional “Rolling in My Sweet Baby’s Arms” in tribute to Roy Clark. “Zombie”, in tribute of Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries who died early January. Urban also busted out some EDM with “Wake Me Up” in tribute to Avicii. He also balanced with the southern rock staple “Sweet Home Alabama” in tribute to guitarist Ed King who also co-wrote the song. And finally, he performed “Respect” like a true blue busker, in tribute of Aretha Franklin who died August after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

The celebration has become Nashville’s centerpiece New Year’s party. This year, a whopping 200,000 people went down and braved the chilly weather. Regardless if you’re celebrating in New York, Nashville, or anywhere else in the world, this is certainly the way to go to usher in the New Year!
