The partial government shutdown has been a tough one, especially for our hardworking government employees. And amidst the chaos, John Prine and his record label, Oh Boy Records steps up to the plate and makes a very touching act of kindness. They bought lunch for the TSA workers at the Nashville Airport, a place which Prine considered as his “second home.”

The Americana legend explained that his act of kindness in his social media account, Twitter :

“The Nashville airport is my second home and everyone there always takes care of me. It’s nice to be able to do something small for them today.”

He also had some heartfelt gratitude for the people who helped him pull off the good deed!

Nashville International Airport was also quick to give their heartfelt gratitude to the Americana superstar by releasing a statement in their official social media account:

The Government Shutdown

The partial government shutdown has started in late 2018, and has persisted for almost over a month. The government has let funding for federal agencies lapse.

Hundreds of thousands of federal employees are now working unpaid. Basic government functions, like maintaining national parks to high-level security functions like inspecting the national food supply and keeping the intelligence agencies have been dramatically reduced, if not stopped completely.

Prine is not alone in his act of kindness. Others have pitched in to help airport workers by providing them essentials such as food while they work without pay. Airports throughout the United States have seen donations of gift cards, non-perishable food, and more.
