This year is the 60th year of Grammy Awards respecting the best musicians, albums, performances, and songs from all music genres. Named as music’s prime night, the Grammy Award ceremony brings out the prevalent stars for a night full of notable performances and reminiscing some of last year’s best performances and artists. Sunday night’s awards show was no different. But then again, country music artists were cut-off of the show’s major all-genre categories. It is the first time in years that it has happened.

2018 Grammy Award for Best Country Album: From A Room: Volume 1

One category is the Best Country Album. The award in the category has previously gone to Shania Twain’s The Woman In Me, Lady Antebellum’s I Need You Now, and the Dixie Chicks who won a record four times.  The 2018 nominees for Best Country Album nominees were Kenny Chesney’s Cosmic Hallelujah, Lady Antebellum’s Heartbreak, Chris Stapleton’s From a Room: Volume 1, Little Big Town’s The Breaker and Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes.

And yes! Stapleton, who helped give Saturday Night Live its best ratings of the season on Saturday night when he delivered a song with his surprise guest, Sturgill Simpson – won the Grammys for Best Country Album.  Included in this album are his first two awards – Either Way and Broken Halos. Chris Stapleton is no stranger to awards shows. The deep-voiced singer won so many awards in recent years and likely he has lost count.  The win marks Stapleton’s second career win in the category. This is also his fifth win overall, having scored a total of three wins at the 60th GRAMMY Awards. It rounded out the evening with nods for Best Country Song – “Broken Halos” and Best Country Solo Performance – “Either Way”.

All these successes are after 11 nominations since 2009 when he was still a part of The SteelDrivers. Two thumbs up for Chris Stapleton’s ‘back-to-back-to-back’ Grammy awards.
