Last year in September, Pentatonix proudly posted a video on their YouTube channel. Dolly Parton sings the leads while the Grammy-winning a capella group did the backup harmonies and rhythm to her famous song “Jolene.”

For me, acapella is surely impressive because it where you can really hear the voice quality of the singer without accompaniments or electronic edits. Pentatonix surely wowed me with all their unique song and engaging arrangement of popular songs.

Imagine them collaborating with Dolly Parton in a rendition of the Tennessee native classic, “Jolene.”

Parton released the deluxe version of “Pure & Simple” with Cracker Barrel. It is the first time that Pentatonix partnered with her and she is their Spotlight Music artist ever!

Both parties were open with their praises towards each other saying how fun it was to have collaborated on the song’s rearrangement while Pentatonix calls it “a dream come true.”

About Pentatonix

Pentatonix or PTX is an American band from Arlington, Texas. They consist of five vocalists Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Avi Kaplan, and Kevin Olusola. Their musical arrangements lean more toward pop with wonderful vocal harmonies, basslines, riffing, percussion and beatboxing.

They were formed in 2011 after winning Season 3 of NBC’s  The Sing-Off and got a recording contract with Sony Music. They have over 13 million subscribers and 2.4 million views on their YouTube Channel.

Pentatonix has won three Grammy Awards: they were the first a capella act to win Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, doing so in 2015 and 2016, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2017.

Their tours for 2017 shows kicked off in May with another five shows in Japan. The final leg of the tour began July 2, 2017, in Los Angeles and will continue across the United States before concluding in Vermont on September 3, 2017.

I personally loved their performance and I hope you did too.
