Project Partners from the provinces of Benguet, Ilocos Sur and La Union discussing the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials appropriate for the project and for the targeted communities.

Information, Education and Communication (IEC) is a major component of the Amburayan River project. In line with this, meetings and consultations have been made from the barangay level to the provincial level to promote river protection and inform communities and partners of the importance of river management.

As a way of engaging the youth, the stakeholders decided that a poem contest will be conducted to collect works of literature from young community members that will reference the Amburayan River. The winning poem from each municipality will be featured in the IEC materials which will be produced for the project. The poems will reflect the theme, “Amburayan River is the wealth of our community. Let us value and protect it for the future”. This has resulted in the engagement of various stakeholders from people’s organizations, local government units, national agencies, academic institutions and the private sector. Last August 30-31, 2016, partners from the provinces of Benguet, Ilocos Sur and La Union met to discuss the IEC materials that will be produced for the project. The participants decided on the appropriate message and the manner by which these messages will be conveyed to inform and inspire change. Identified IEC materials were indoor and outdoor signages, brochures and a 2017 calendar.
