Establishing Collaborative Governance

The provincial governments of Benguet, Ilocos Sur and La Union have agreed to fund part of the water testing required for the designation of the Amburayan River as a Water Quality Management Area (WQMA). A total of PHP 567,410 was pledged by the three Provincial LGUs to demonstrate their commitment and support.

This is in line with the project’s goal of good governance. The aim is to mobilize local government units in taking a decisive and active role in protecting and managing the Amburayan river as a shared resource. Emphasizing collaboration and partnership instead of boundaries.

Protecting and Defending the Amburayan River Basin and Watershed through Good Governance and Active People’s Participation is a project funded by the USAID through the Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF) and is implemented by the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation Inc. (JVOFI).
